Carly and Chris, two Detroit natives, lovers of all things Detroit wanted to not only tie the knot there, but to show off its finer points to all those visiting from far and wide. The day started off at the iconic Ren Cen with its incredible views of the city and beyond. This was followed by a first look on the riverfront. Detroit has so many strings to its bow, mostly associated with bricks and mortar and its industrial might, however Belle Isle is a stunning green gem, where we balanced out the urban industrial feel with some shots in and amongst the parks graceful weeping willows and luscious landscape. Our tour of the city continued to the remarkable Bleeding Rainbow mural. There were a number of other stops planned along the way but the limo was pulled over by Detroit’s boys in blue… at the time it was a bit of an inconvenience, but it’s not every wedding party that can say they were pulled over on their wedding day!
The ceremony was held at the awe inspiring St Florian Catholic Church where the attention to detail and huge cavernous arches were really quite spectacular. Once the rice had been thrown and picked out of hair, clothing and shoes the wedding party and all the guests headed back to the Ren Cen where the reception was held at the sleek Granite City Brewery. Guests dined an array of tapas dishes washed down with a variety of locally brewed beers. A very Detroit way to end a truly Detroit wedding!
