My favourite time of year is that little window where summer is on its way out and autumn is peeking it’s way through the trees. When it’s warm enough to go for a dip in the lake but autumnal enough to grab your first donut and cider of the year. .. Which coincidentally is exactly what we did for Sarah + Robin’s engagement. The plan was to meet at the fabulous Erwin Orchard in South Lyon and then head to a nearby park for some sunset shots. Well, we did all of that and had a blast. The orchard made for a gorgeous backdrop and S+R were more than willing to get a little creative. Once we’d had our fill of apples it was onwards to the nearby Island Lake State Recreation Area. The late Summer sunset was spectacular and as S+R got their toes wet in the warm lake water we started to wrap the shoot up… Well, you’ve got to make the most of those balmy evenings, right? So with only a little persuasion the two of them bound into the lake just as the sun was dipping over the horizon, where I captured them at their playful loving selves. Completely unplanned. No towels and with a thirty minute drive home in their sopping wet clothes. It was totally worth it.
